New Year’s Eve Games
Run short rounds that can stop cleanly before the countdown. These games work without alcohol or late-night attendance.

Estimate a minute
Keep clocks out of view. Guests signal silently when they think a minute has passed; the host records the difference.
A small highlight
Collect one voluntary, light highlight from each guest. Keep the host key private and reveal answers after guesses.
Everyday charades
Use everyday prompts instead of a pop-culture quiz that may exclude guests. Let each team take the same number of turns.
A practical running order
- 5 min: explain the stopping time.
- 10 min: estimate-a-minute practice and scored round.
- 15 min: charades; finish the current round before the countdown.
Preparation and adaptations
Use a daytime countdown for children or guests leaving early. Announce a hard stop rather than rushing a final turn.
Open each linked material page before the event and check its rules, group size and supplies. Print one test copy on the paper you will use. For a large gathering, give each small table its own rules and materials. Preview long text before printing, and keep a spare pen and a spare copy for the host.
Free printable materials and PDFs
The linked games and materials are free to use. Links open working makers or printable game pages, not a separate themed download bundle. Add your own seasonal wording where the maker supports editing. Choose Print and then Save as PDF in your browser; no account is needed. Some guides use fixed sheets, and the host must supply any personal facts or checked quiz answers.
