Four-symbol clue grid

Fill 1–4 so each row and column contains each symbol once, keeping the printed clues.
Use the printed four-by-four grid. Rows are 1–4 and columns A–D. Fill the eight empty cells with 1,2,3 or 4. Never change a printed clue. This is a symbol-placement puzzle, not an arithmetic exercise: every row and every column must contain each value once. Diagonals do not have a special rule.
For an empty cell, list which values are absent from its row, then remove values already in its column. A cell with one remaining value can be filled. Keep tentative notes small and erase them clearly. One to six people may solve together; rotate the pencil and let each person explain a step instead of racing.
Row 1 reads 1,blank,3,blank, so it needs 2 and 4. Column D already has 1 and 2 in rows 2 and 3, so D1 cannot be 2 and must be 4. B1 must then be 2. This deduction uses both row and column, not a guessed repeating picture. Recheck a filled value against both before moving to the next blank.
The key has rows 1–2–3–4,2–3–4–1,3–4–1–2,4–1–2–3. The printed givens make this puzzle unique, as checked across all 576 four-symbol Latin grids. Verify four rows, four columns and all original clues. A grid with correct totals can still repeat symbols and fail; adding values is not the validation rule.
Stop after a valid grid or the agreed twelve-minute attempt. Offer to reveal one empty cell rather than the whole key. Symbols can be read aloud or copied by a helper. Do not scramble the givens and assume a new unique puzzle; any new layout needs its own solution check. This is not a branded puzzle app or online solver.
