Reveal a fixed familiar answer by proposing symbols and using the revealed positions.

- Per team: one reveal board, guessed-symbol log and pencil; adult keeps the separate answer. English uses six boxes; Chinese four.
30 pupils: six teams of five; one adult keeps each active answer key, or leads all teams with a shared key.
Prepare
Adult chooses the supplied language key and confirms pupils know the relevant vocabulary without showing its answer. English answer is PLANET, six uppercase letters, clue “a world in space”. Chinese answer is 春夏秋冬, four characters, clue “the four seasons in order”. This is not a letter-by-letter translation task.
Play
Take turns proposing one unused letter (English) or one character (Chinese). The adult reveals ALL positions with that symbol. A repeated guess costs nothing; an absent new symbol fills one miss circle. Use at most eight misses. A whole-answer guess is optional; if wrong it also costs one miss, if right reveal all.
Example
English P reveals box 1; E reveals box 5; A reveals box 3. Chinese 秋 reveals box 3; 春 reveals box 1. The fixed supplied answers have no repeated symbols, but the rule remains “reveal all matches”.
Finish
Finish when the full answer is shown or eight misses are marked. At the limit, adult reveals and reads the answer together; no elimination, drawing of bodies or humiliation. Shared success is explaining one revealed position or learning the answer.
Adapt
Adult may offer two familiar candidate symbols, read guesses, or allow a picture-supported season choice. Chinese characters are whole symbols here, not strokes; use each language’s own board.
Purpose and provenance
Activity aim: Reveal a fixed familiar answer by proposing symbols and using the revealed positions.
Practice opportunities: Linking known letters or characters to a familiar word; using feedback and taking turns.
What adults can observe: Check familiarity with the answer beforehand; decoding unfamiliar vocabulary is a different task.
Mechanism and our adaptation: PartyPageKit classroom adaptation of a common activity mechanism. The earliest inventor has not been established; the linked references are identified separately by the editor.
Reference: Teach English Literacy — Fun Game Ideas, item 15 — Related letter-guessing rule only; our version uses eight miss boxes, no gallows imagery, and a separate Chinese character adaptation.
These are planning aims and observable actions, not measured lasting gains. The reference is not an endorsement or a test of our adaptation.
Free material alternatives: Draw boxes and eight empty circles on reused paper; adult writes the answer on a separate folded note.
Buying links: reserved; no purchase is required.

Answer PLANET. Positions P1 L2 A3 N4 E5 T6. Read it together if eight misses are used.
Keep this page separate. Agree the answer before play and never change it to defeat a guess. Printed symbols are uppercase letters in English, whole characters in Chinese.
