Set up and play

  1. Use a flat clear table, a printed target, and one loosely crumpled sheet of paper per player.
  2. Put the ball behind the start line and push it gently along the tabletop using one hand.

Finish the game

Follow the complete ending rule below; a guest may stop or pass without elimination.

Prepare a safe tabletop lane

Use a flat clear table, a printed target, and one loosely crumpled sheet of paper per player. Make each ball roughly the size of a small apple rather than a tiny pellet. Avoid hard objects, sharp folds, and anything that could damage the surface. Place the target flat and mark a starting line at least ten centimeters before its nearest edge. Adjust that distance for your table before the scored round. Two to eight guests take turns; they do not send balls across the table at the same time.

Agree how a slide starts

Put the ball behind the start line and push it gently along the tabletop using one hand. A short slide is intended, not an airborne throw. Keep the ball on the table and stop the round if the surface or surrounding space makes that difficult. A participant may use a flat palm instead of a fingertip. Let everyone take one unscored practice attempt with the same lane, then agree a fixed start line and three scored attempts per guest. Do not change the distance for an individual midway through a scored match.

Read the rings fairly

The target has three concentric circles. A ball touching the outer circle or its enclosed area scores at least one point, the middle circle two, and the inner circle three. When a ball overlaps several rings, award the highest ring it touches. Check its resting footprint from above without nudging it inward; a ball entirely outside every circle scores zero. Touching the outer boundary counts in, so a close call does not require measuring the center of an irregular paper ball. A ball that falls off the table scores zero, and the host retrieves it before the next attempt.

Use equal attempts and a clear ending

After each slide, record the score and remove the ball so nobody can knock a previous attempt into a higher ring. Continue around the same player order until everyone has three scores. For example, two points, zero, and three give a total of five. The highest total wins. Equal totals share the result; do not add a sudden extra attempt for just one player. A cooperative alternative sets a group target after practice, such as twelve points across six total attempts, but that target is a local challenge rather than a tested difficulty rating.

Print and include different players

Use the printable score sheet to record three attempts and totals. Print the target at one hundred percent and keep its rings uncut so the sheet stays flat. Tape the corners only with suitable removable tape and permission from the table owner, or use a nonslip backing. If guests need different lane distances, run separate practice-only challenges or agree individual distances for a noncompetitive round. A partner can place the ball while its owner directs the push. This page is a physical tabletop activity: it has no online physics simulation and makes no claim that scores are comparable across different tables, ball sizes, or paper types.

Keep practice conditions for the match

Use the same style of large paper ball during practice and scoring, and retrieve a ball gently instead of reshaping it after every poor attempt. If the target slips, pause, put it back in the agreed position, and repeat that disrupted attempt for the affected player. A stable setup matters more than collecting precise scores from an inconsistent surface.
